The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, affectionately known as PON (Polski Owczarek Nizinny), is a medium-sized herding dog renowned for its intelligence, confidence, and vibrancy. Standing up to 20 inches tall and weighing around 40 pounds, this breed boasts a sturdy, muscular build. Its distinctive double coat is long and shaggy on top, with a soft, dense undercoat, often partially obscuring the eyes and adding to its unique charm. PONs are highly adaptable, making them beloved companions for both rural and urban dwellers in Poland and beyond. They thrive on mental and physical stimulation, excelling in activities that challenge their sharp minds and energetic nature. Despite their small size, their protective instincts and alertness make them excellent watchdogs. Though they can be a bit stubborn, their trainability is high, responding well to consistent, positive reinforcement. Regular grooming is essential to maintain their luxurious coat. With a lifespan of around 13 years, PONs are devoted, affectionate family members, striking a perfect balance between playfulness and the reliability of a hardworking herding dog. Their vibrant personality and striking appearance make them a joy to discover and a wonderful addition to any dog-loving family.
